Always find it interesting seeing the different names when people post up configuration details, so thought I'd start a thread to find out more. What's your pool called and why?

Mine is APEpool1 (and APEpool2 on my backup) as my company is called APE Consulting Ltd :D

Home network and I learned to name based on something you remember. My pool is Zero-One, fits in nice with the Matrix. Hardwired devices are named after characters and WiFi devices are named after ships the server however is Zion.

The sister system that my father has however is setup for his network and he went Star Wars. The pool is "space" and everything else is named however he decided and I never much paid attention to.

On a side note the guy I worked for at one point started a WISP mainly for him and friends and Family north of Lawton, OK. He started off with baseball themed AP's, first base, second base, home plate, etc.

For my network theme, it's LOTR, (Lord Of The Rings), with the FreeNAS
named "Galadriel". So it's pool got the original name "Galadriel".

On my Linux Media server and Linux desktop, (which use ZFS too), the OS
is "rpool", after Solaris standards. But each has left over un-mirrored space,
"mpool" for the Media server, and "amypond" for the desktop.

The single disk pools for backups are "GBackup", (8TB Seagate SMR), and
"GBackup750", (an old Seagate 750GB). Probably should have named the
8TB one "GBackup8TB" for consistancy.

I half expected a BOHICA in there somewhere.

I've a pool in the FreeNASbox which follows the type of drives used.
- "wdred"
- "green", which is a mixture of WDgreen drives. This was created after I realize how inconvenient the "wd60efrx" name was. Hence, the pool "green" was followed by the share "garden" ...which makes a lot of sense when typing and remembering.

Cheers

Mine is called "farm", not sure exactly why, maybe I wanted to feel like I had a server farm, even though it's a farm of one. If I had to choose another name, "thor", "zena", "dogbone", or "31415926". I don't think the name matters too much so long as it's not "pool" as that can really get confusing with some commands.
