So... I cant find what this setting does in the manual...
Under STORAGE, selecting a volume... then clicking the little wrench Icon... in the Popup for EDIT OPTIONS... Theres a selection for SYNC (options are: Inherit, Standard, Always, Disabled)… (See Screenshot)

What does Sync do in this regard?

Did you do a search?

Yeah, but searching, I keep coming up with ways to mirror one NAS to another... or similar things...

Ive been going through the manual looking for what it doesbut its not mentioned so far as I can find (thats not to say it isnt there... i may be looking in the wrong place)

So... followup then...

Under what conditions would you want it enabled or disabled for the entire Dataset?

Sync write to a dataset can be slower than you might want, so you can force it to not be synchronous to make it faster at the expense of some safety.
Likewise, for ultimate data safety, you can force synchronous write at the expense of speed.
That's a oversimplification, but it covers the high points.
What are your plans for the dataset?

Thanks... That makes sense.
This NAS is literally just hosting TV Shows, Movies etc and grabbing releases as they come out... 0 mission critical stuff is kept on it. There are family photos/movies and whatnot... but all of that is backed up on 2 different redundant sets.
I don't need this system to be safe... Honestly, if I lost everything on it... it would just be bothersome to redownload or re-encode the things that are on it.
