I would like to know is there a way to have a web browser on the truenas scale host machine?

I really hope I can browse the internet by using the truenas scale console too.

Would anyone advise?

TrueCharts offers a Firefox app (among a multitude of others that allow to run a browser in a container)... is that what you mean?

Or do you mean you want to use the mouse, keyboard and monitor attached to the TrueNAS host to also have a user-interactive session? (not so easy, but maybe possible by VM with passthrough of keyboard, mouse and GPU)

As I have keyboard, mouse and monitor attached to the Truenas Scale console in my room, I hope I can browse internet by using the console.

Why on earth would you want to do this? No, it is not possible. Disconnect the monitor, mouse, and keyboard, and let your server operate as it's intended to.

No, it is not possible.
I recall answering something similar to a thread asking about using a local display from a VM, but was proven wrong (at least for SCALE).

I'm still looking for a link to that thread to post here, but I guess with USB passthrough and the GPU/display thing, it should be possible in theory... otherwise, with some other virtualized setup.

I hope I can browse internet by using the console
Know that what you are asking for is not included in the design of the appliance you're running, so expect difficulty and know what you're doing may require advanced skills and/or experimentation on your part to make it work (and keep it working).

I'll see if I can find the thread about the local display and post it here.

OK, here it is:

Turns out not so much proven for SCALE as for Proxmox, but may apply to SCALE

I want to know also why, not just @danb35.
Becaue TrueNAS is an appliance and should be treated as such. Modificaations such as this are outside of it's design parameters.

In my sleeping room, I originally use an old Windows PC, i7-870 for browsing sometimes. Since the Truenas Scale server has more functions for cloud streaming and storage, I install the Truenas Scale on this PC and boot it as console. Now if I use Windows in my sleeping room, I need to shutdown the console and change the boot sequence from bios.
