Hello guys,

I have FreeNAS for about 3 days now, and i am using a laptop for this. (Specs: AMD E-450 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 8GB DDR3, 64gb internal ssd with FreeNAS, 4TB of storage) and the battery inside this laptop is in good state. I saw that you can set up an UPS, but is this possible with a laptop battery? That it shut itself down the correct way with a power outage?

@Miller1603 people are going to want to know, are you going to be using this setup for general use, or testing, or what?

I ask because the configuration you describe is a very bad idea for a multitude of reasons, and it's not related to UPS elements.

If it's just for testing, and you're not actually going to use this with any regularity otherwise, you should be good enough.

If this is a setup that you want to use for an extended period of time, PLEASE DO NOT.

Also, laptops have effectively UPS' in them already. It's a combination of the battery and power circuitry.

I can't tell if the OP is trolling.
