Howdy y'all, been a long time since I originally installed TrueNAS so not even specifically sure what version I'm on. It was set up a couple of years ago and has been rock solid as a home photo server for a busy concert photographer. I'm not overly technically savvy on the issue and I'm incredibly short on time. The server has been a godsend for me in managing larger images. What I'm saying is, I rely on this thing and it has been good for 2 years.

I woke up this morning and went to upload last nights images and the server was unreachable on my local machine, it's listed in network drives.

On the machine connected to a monitor it looks to have the Web User Interface at 0.0.0.0 that seems odd. I've tried searching for the issue on here but it was mostly up to new installs with non intel NICs. This thing has been up and running for a long time flawlessly.

I've restarted both machines multiple times, I've traced cables and reconnected them, I reset the BIOS on the server machine.

I get a GEOMS error I think it says when starting up the server but it goes by pretty fast I haven't read it thoroughly.

Server is running on an older Lenovo desktop, just as a SMB share to my desktop.

What other info can I provide or what else should I be doing over here? I've got the weekend, but I've got important stuff on there... I'm already falling behind...

Thanks for any help/direction y'all can give!

Equally afraid I'm going to mess something up and lose data as I am unsure about what direction to even go so not stoked on my current problem solving ability.

And restarting the router seems to have fixed it, sorry to have made another account in distress haha!

If your NIC is set to obtain its IP address via DHCP you might want to check (a) the network cabling and (b) your DHCP provider on the network.

Restarting the modem might help if it's a DHCP issue.
You can also manually set (or reset) the WebUI IP from the cli you see attaching a monitor.

Make good use of this scare: Check the hardware. See if an update is due. And, above all, HAVE A BACKUP.

That's the best info, I barely remember my webui info, so yeah it's in need of some attention.

I would advice having at least one interface with a fixed IP configuration on any important device, not a DHCP reservation. There are a lot of things that can screw with DHCP. I've had to go hunting for a second DHCP server in a network more then once, let me tell it's not a fun experience.

As for have a backup, I'd recommend two backups for any data that is important. Each with their own monitoring notifying you asap if a backup was not performed.
