TrueNAS Scale Upgrade - Docker/Kubernetes Issues

Hi all - first post here but been using TrueNAS Core for some years now.

I have a small home server setup for backup, NVR and media streaming e.t.c. that has been running fine on Core. Decided to make the switch to Scale as it offers some benefits/features I'm after - however been having some issues with Docker/Kubernetes.

When trying to setup a new App it gets stuck at the deploying stage and errors out when trying to pull the docker image with a 'RPC context deadline exceeded error'. I then tried pulling the docker image manually from the shell however it gets stuck downloading (usually on the last few mb). When it's downloading multiple images sometimes one will succeed and the other will fail - then next try another will succeed and another fail e.t.c. - (everything else TrueNAS networking related works, and can reach the internet fine when testing from shell)

Tried for two days to get it working with various attempts at fixing, different network card, different network configs, limiting docker to only 1 concurred download, e.t.c. however all to no avail. First time I upgraded my existing Core instance, however have also tried fresh installs (stable), latest nightly and still having the same issue - I'm starting to think maybe my issue stems from my home network setup (Virgin SuperHub 3 (Modem Mode) -> Deco M5 (Router Mode)) rather than my system? Have found multiple threads online of people experiencing the same issue (example here) - usually resolved by either limiting to 1 download (still doesn't work), amending proxy settings (I'm not behind a proxy) or disabling A/V (not applicable) but no joy.

Ended up reverting back to Core for now but would really like to move to Scale if I can only get this issue resolved - any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Best suggestion is to file a bugreport and attach a debug dump.

However: If you're not even on SCALE anymore, there is not much use to go over all sorts of options you can try, because at this stage you're not even able to go over things as you're not running scale anymore... :(

Almost all the times, these issues are related to network issues though...

Do I understand correctly that you are running the server on a wireless connection?

If so, can you put it somewhere where it can have a wired connection?

Apologies for the confusion - it's wired but from the Deco M5 acting as a router.

So decided to upgrade again today and have another go, still no luck as it was. Then got me thinking so I pulled out a spare TP-Link Archer C5400 router I had, and set this up as the main router from my ISP hub and put the Deco's in Access Point mode (and connected my server through the C5400 and not the Deco) and straight away it worked.

Looked like the issue was caused by some security or issue on the Deco software. I know they have some 'network protection' features built in - however I previously disabled them too and the issue still persisted.

Either way all working great now :) Thanks guys.

Good to hear it's working now. Even routers are coming with a bunch of crap-ware these days.

All the more reason to run your own software: OPNsense, pfSense, VyOS, ...
