Hello. Thank you for taking time to read my post in advance, I really appreciate any help you can provide.

I bought a Dell PowerEdge R720 just before Christmas, arrived on the 23rd of December, I also ordered 5x 8TB drives, cutting a long story short the Dell PE didn't come with a Raid controller so after a lot of travelling around, grabbing one, flashing it to IT mode the disk drives finally showed up. I installed an SSD in place of the CD-ROM Drive and installed TrueNAS on it thinking this would probably be the easiest leg of my entire journey. I was wrong.

I've created my pool of drives in TrueNAS with raidz2, I've created my data set, and I've also given permissions to access, aswel as creating a network bridge so the VM can see the host.

The problem that I now face is, no matter what I do, I can not get the VM to install Linux Ubuntu (I've also tried Linux Mint) and I've had various stages of errors, the first being booted into UEFI Interactive Shell, eventually I gave up and set the VM up as a Legacy Bios however, this presents the next lot of errors/problems.

I can get the VM to be made, but when I start it, it just doesn't boot. Here are a few pictures showing that I am currently getting.

I do get to this page but as soon as I press "install Ubuntu" I get the above screen ^.

I have read countless threads, reddit posts and also YouTube videos and I believe I am following these guides 100% accurately, but I am getting issues that nobody else seems to be getting, and googling some of the errors don't give me a result that matches my issue.

I am really at the end of my tether with it and fast losing patience, so I pray that someone can help me solve this.

I am available via TeamViewer if someone would like to take a closer look, but I can also try doing things myself should someone give me a suggestion!

Thank you again.

Just to follow-up: I ran into this issue as well while trying to install Ubuntu, and I ended up needing to delete the VM and re-create it with the appropriate amount of memory. Trying to modify the memory of the existing VM didn't work.

I have a new issue...
I could finally connect through Firefox to the Spice interface, but it is soooo slow, that it is borderline unusable.
The VM has 8GB RAM, of which 3 is used, it has 8 cores of the underlying Yeon E5-2680 v4.
It is an Ubuntu 22.04 LTS minimal install.
CPU load is around 10% max.
Still it reacts to my mouse moves and click in like 10+ seconds.
