Hello everyone, I've run into a problem with connecting the UPS. there are 2 identical ups, they don't have serial numbers, vendorid and productid respectively are the same... how do i know which usb bus one and the other is sitting on? so that nut could distinguish them at least like this ... thanks in advance for the answer :)

I don't think TrueNAS (NUT) supports multiple UPSs connected to the same NAS via USB.

What is the goal of connecting two UPSs to the same NAS?

this will be the 3rd ups. each ups is connected to its own consumer, and the 3rd connected is identical to the 2nd

@Deadfuntik, can you please provide some kind of picture?

I'm not sure what photo you would like, well, for example, here ...) 2 ups are connected here so far. I don’t prescribe the 3rd one yet, because when I do it, the system catches the first one that comes across, and the second identical one simply ignores

I did not mean a screenshot (sorry my bad for the imprecise wording), but an architectural diagram. What are the UPSes in question and how are they connected to which system. What behavior do you expect and how is it different from what you currently see?

I will try to describe ..) there are 3 UPSs that are connected to the truenas scale via usb, then each of them is monitored in the home assistant. 1 UPS feeds the truenas server 2nd router and every little thing and the 3rd - TV. 2 UPSs are absolutely identical, and it is not possible to distinguish them by vendorid / productid as well as by serial number. but, as far as I know, besides this, in nut you can specify which usb bus the device is connected to, so I want to try at least in this way to force the system to somehow distinguish the UPS from each other

A UPS primary function is to allow graceful shutdown of a computer system or NAS.
Why do you even need a monitor a UPS connected to a TV or router? For that matter, why do you need a UPS connected to a TV? A TV and router are for the most part not susceptible to an abrupt power loss. Just connect the UPS powering the NAS and monitor with TrueNAS via NUT. You are trying to make this more complicated than it needs to be. Problem solved! Move on with life!

While I generally agree with @elvisimprsntr, seems to me the best way to identify each one by usbus connection is to disconnect two of the three and determine which usbus has the remaining one, then add the other two one at a time, noting at each step the new usbus connection. I am supposing you are using the NUT running in Home Assistant which you must have determined can accept inputs from multiple usb connections to one instance. Like @elvisimprsntr , I'm only aware of multiple nas's each with a ups in a master/slave(s) arrangement over the network.

What command can be used to see which bus the UPS is connected to?

Regret I have no idea how you would do that in SCALE/Linux... not my thing (yet?)

Unfortunately, SCALE does not include LSUSB package (bug report submitted), but you can find the devices with the following commands.

Code:
cat /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/product
cat /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/serial

Unfortunately, when you add/remove USB devices and reboot your NAS, the device enumeration will change.

the topic can be closed, I solved the problem differently, connected the UPS to the router and configured nut on the router. after which he threw everything into HA. it is a pity that it was not possible to solve the problem by means of truenas
