Hello all,

I'v installed TrueNas scale on a homemade nas with anonymous fileshares so i don't need to type passwords and stuff.
Now I have installed the transmission app so i can download torrents.

However, when i let transmission download a torrent, as soon as it starts to download (to a folder exposed as an smb share), i get an message that de path is readonly. I've tried everything i could think off, enabling guest access to the folder, fiddling with permissions..etc nothing works.

Does anyone have an idea on how to get this to work?

Kind regards,

Damien72

What type of permissions did you set locally? And can you confirm this directory is mounted to inside the container via a host-volume mount already?

I'm assuming you're using the TrueCharts app, so as long as the folder is mounted inside the application using the Storage options in the GUI make sure the apps user (568) can write to it. If it's a bit more complicated since it's a SMB share on another system I dunno would have to see the setup

Hi all,

I have the same issue, but I want to dive into this problem.

My Transmission is configured to download in:
  • /mnt/NAS-sea/Downloads
  • /mnt/NAS-sea/Downloads/incomplete
On the permissions side, in the /mnt/NAS-sea/Downloads folder (owner: transmission), I have in full control for:
  • users:
    • transmission
    • nobody
  • group
    • users (transmission)
    • apps
    • bin
  • user obj: transmission
  • group obj: users
Many of them are just for testing purposes.

Using putty, I've logged using transmission and confirmed I could create files/folders in the directory.

Still, I have a "read-only file system" error when downloading.

So, at this point :
  • What are the users/groups that require access to the download directory for TrueCharts Transmission?
  • How can I confirm the rights are applied properly?
  • Where is this info available? I mean, is there a man somewhere?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Gab
