Transfer pool to a new installation?

I want to do a clean install of TrueNAS 12 rather than keep upgrading over and over like I have been for the several previous versions, but I don't have anywhere to temporarily put the 3TB of data I have on the disks. Is it possible to somehow import the disks as an existing pool after installation?

To expand on @blanchet's comment, yes, it is possible to import an existing pool into a clean install. Just remember to export/disconnect the pool cleanly, so the new installation will see it as an available pool. Otherwise, you'll get a complaint about the pool being in use on another system.

Oh so it's that simple? The system will read certain data from the disks and identify the whole thing as a pool? Wow, that's great.

Thanks sounds great.

I'm also looking into importing an existing pool into a fresh installation, I just have one questions: is there any thing I should consider regarding ownership of the files on the different datasets?

On my old system I have different users with own home directories and Apple Timemachine backups. Is it just to recreate the users from my old system and create the shares?

If you create the same users with the same UID/GIDs, it will all be fine.
