BUILD Thinking of buying a Lenovo ThinkServer. Some questions

Hi!

I'm thinking of buying a Lenovo Thinkserver TS140 70A4(art. nr 70A4003QEU) here:

It uses an Intel I217 NIC.
The sata controller is an ThinkServer RAID 100.
Will that work with Freenas? Does anyone know if that sata controller supports ahci?

It will. Throw in an 8GB DIMM and you're fine. The SATA ports are Intel AHCI.

You can also transplant the guts of it into a bigger case.

Here's a guy who did that with a $60 Rosewill rackmount. He did have to make a wiring harness for the PSU though since it's proprietary.

I forgot to say that it includes 16 gb DDR3 SDRAM - ECC :)
