Hello,

I am having a isue with the samba share on the iphone and ipad.
My windows(vritual pc) works as normal.
When connecting on the ipad or iphone it works right away. but after a while or the next day i can't acces the folder.
I have to remove the connection and then enter it again and it works the samen way as before.

I can not find a way to see the log files for the samba isue for ios and ipados.
I am not yet familie to get those files. I was reading about this command but it doesn show anything I would need.
in the shell more /var/log/messages

My setup:
Ipad Pro 12,9 3e gen
Iphone XS

HP 800 G1
RHEL 9 as hypervisor

Virtual machine:
TrueNAS Scale with sata pas tru. RAIDz2 4x 1TB.

Same problem here. Initial connection to smb share always works. Also after every iPad restart it works.

But after leaving ipad for a day, it starts to bug around. Sometimes all shares work properly, sometimes certain shares are not accessible, sometime all shares become unavailable. Using the latest stable 22, iPadOS also the latest.

From what I read, it’s probably the different SMB Standards between iPad files app and truenas smb. Since my windows PC works flawlessly with truenas.

(smb has different versions, also different platforms like Apple, Linux and windows have their individual implementation → occasionally compatibility problems, when not using the exact same protocol version)
