I'm having trouble setting up my HDHomeRun Prime.

According to the instructions that came with it, I'm supposed to connect coax+ethernet, insert the cable card, then insert power, then go to my.hdhomerun.com and follow the directions until I'm prompted to call the cable company. However when I do that I get an error on the page I'm told to go to (my.hdhomerun.com) that says to remove the cable card.

Then if I remove the cable card I can find the device (and navigate to its IP -- going to the IP with the cable card inserted errors out as if it can't find the page) and I get this:

I can go into any of the blue links, but it just tells me information about the device (IP/MAC address, tuner status, etc...).

The System log:
Code:
19700101-00:00:00 System: reset reason = trap error (00040400)
19700101-00:00:04 System: network link 1000f
19700101-00:00:05 System: network link down
19700101-00:00:05 System: ip address expired
19700101-00:00:08 System: network link 1000f
19700101-00:00:09 System: ip address obtained: 192.168.20.177 / 255.255.255.0
20170621-02:00:43 System: time changed from Thu Jan 01 00:00:24 1970 to Wed Jun 21 02:00:43 2017

And if I click installation instructions I'm brought to my.hdhomerun.com. Where I've tried to download the software for MacOS, but when I launch the software I can't do anything -- it detects the HDHomeRun, but that's it.

Did you authorize the cablecard with your Cable provider? I just got an HDHR a few months ago and had no issues setting it up with Verizon Fios. I forget the steps that I took but it only took like 20 minutes to setup from start to finish, I know users with other cable companies have had a bunch of problems with it. The native HDHR apps suck so you'll want to use something like Kodi or MythTV as a front end for it.

I got it to work, it turns out they gave me a bad cablecard. After I got a working cablecard it was extremely simple to setup and get working.

Now my problem is that most of the channels I want are DRM protected, and SD is planning on adding DRM support for their own application, but as of right now I don't know if Plex is going to add support (I'm waiting for a response from them). So for the time being it's basically worthless to me, which is unfortunate because it does get me a couple channels I'm interested in.

Your cable provider sucks - who is it? I have Comcast and the only channels that are DRM protected are the movie networks like HBO, Showtime, etc.

I use 2xHDHR with cable cards paired with MythTV for the backend and Kodi/Myth for the frontends. It works great, but I would like the ability to handle DRM content. I'm definitely keeping a close eye on Plex for this...

I've read that others have used Windows Media Center for the DRM content, but anything Windows based is out for me.

Wow, yea they suck. Fios only has DRM on the premium channels, Fox News and a few others I think. About 90% are DRM free. Out of the 485 channels we have available I have cut it down to 38 haha
