Hi,

i searched on forum some "ports" for instalation to jail, that will indexing (only file names) all files (jpg, pdf, ai,...) on freenas volume (by mapping to jail). I find only "Xapian-Omega". Can you pleas help me to find best indexer with nice webgui for local freenas server?

I throught also to use OwnCloud v6.2, but this probably does not index in the background and i dont know how it handle many small files.

Why i need index files localy on server: i have 1 000 000 files on freenas volume and i want find for example all files that have in name "holiday_040413*". This search is for users on network (mac and windows operating systems).

Thx,

Marian.

There's a thread somewhere here that can index files. But, it doesn't index them "live". That is, you have to run a command to have it index a location, and then you have to run it again later to have it update. I forget the command, but it's in the forums somewhere.

Also keep in mind it does NOT work with the Windows Search service, so you will have to run your search command of the index from SSH or locally. Not the most ideal since your average user should not be given local or ssh access.

That thread is it! Glad you found it.

I'm not sure what webgui you are going to use. I'm not aware of any, but someone has probably made one somewhere.
