SOLVED Seagate Exos 5E8 vs 7E8 8TB disks usage

The 5E8 is a 5400RPM drive and 7E8 is a 7200RPM drive. From your experience, can I mix 5E8 with 7E8 in a 12 disks pool? The 5400 will generally be quieter and run cooler than the 7200 but I got some good prices on the 7E8.

Great info, I had no idea. That answers my question, I need to get the 7E8 model.

I'm using RaidZ2 with a extra disk on the side (13 drives), in case of emergency replacement.

Quick question, is there a thread with a list of supported disk models? Not SMR.

I’m adding the models from my research:
- HGST Ultrastar He8
- Seagate EXOS 7E8
- WD Ultrastar HC320

If it's not in that resource, you can assume the drive is non-SMR.
