Scrubbing pool stops seconds after initiation

Hello :) I've had a FreeNAS system up and running for a couple of years. I had to replace the motherboard a while back and while doing so I added two more drives and went from a raidz to a raidz2 configuration. I have little to no experience with FreeBSD or Linux for that matter so I don't know what to do if anything goes wrong.

I decided today to run a scrub on my pool, but the scrub just stops after a few seconds and 'zpool status' either says 'resilver in progress' with some 90% complete, or 'scrub in progress' with 0% complete. While it's shifting back and forth, the FreeNAS computer beeping with a constant interval, like it's being rebooted constantly. Can anyone give me some advice as to how to figure out whats going on?

Motherboard: ASUS Prime B360M-A
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Lpx 8GB 2400MHz DDR4
CPU: Intel Celeron G4900 3.1GHz
Hard drives: 8x 2TB drives in a Raidz2 configuration

it looks like you are using consumer grade hardware. good chance of finding limited people who will respond.

my first guesses would be power or RAM issues, particulary since you are non ECC.

what is the full output of zpool status -v?

How did you connect your drives? According to the datasheet you mainboard only supports 6 drives.

I went back to a RaidZ 6-drive configuration, it scrubs fine now. I was using some ebay s-ata controller to connect the last two drives, it might have been the reason for it not scrubbing. Thanks for the replies though :)

I just realized that this is resilvering repeatedly. your setup is unhealthy, you need a backup.

ya, random sata controllers are crap.
I'm extremely curious how you are going from 6 to 8 to 6 drive raidz since that's not...possible without destroying the pool?
