I have a 9.1 box using 200 datasets, and a lot rrd files are being generated of course. Is there a way to limit the size of the rrd files ?

Or is a cron deleting rrd files the right solution ?

Thanks.

There is no way to limit the size that I know of. I'd use a cronjob if I had your problem though.

Ok. I've just realized that having many datasets will fill up /var/db/collectd/rrd/localhost/ no matter if a cron is active.
/var is only 149M
Since every dataset is consuming 456k disk space. With 200 or more that will fill up /var fast or even at once.

Is there any workaround for this except stopping collectd all the time?

Assuming you have the RAM, you can increase /var. The other option is to have a persistent /var, but that requires a separate UFS formatted hard drive.

Might be worth creating a feature request for that at bugs.freenas.org.
