How can I remove the password I was forced to create when creating a VM using the spice display mechanism?

I also can't find how to Change this password without rebuilding the vm from scratch

Extremely poorly implemented

I don't think you can remove the password completely, but you can make it as short as one character.

To change the password after the VM is created:
1. click on the devices button for the VM
2. click three dots to bring up the menu for the display device
3. then click edit

Thx, I'll try that tomorrow

It would be nice to create a feature to allow whether or not a password is needed left to the data owner though

I found where to change it, made the password 1 character when I tried to save it sits there with the scrolling bar not saving, I ended up deleting and recreating the VM as it never came back

Developers - I still maintain that the password should not be mandatory

Why the change to force a password on the console?

Sorry my suggestion ended up forcing you to delete the VM.

Are you on version 23.10.1 of Scale? I'm asking because I tested a one-charter password before making the post, and it saved successfully. Also, I think the VM needs to be powered off when making the change.

No worries my friend - I was at the start of a project - the VM section itself is very unstable and I was unable to power down the VM before I deleted it.

We are at the latest release as far as I know - I am not the admin though

The bigger issue is that SCALE and SPICE are making VMs unusable - When I rebuilt the VM and tried to reboot - the VM hangs and never comes back.

The admin has been using PROXMOX in the lab and I think that we may be going to that in PROD unless the SCALE comes out with a stable VM release.

Thanks again for your time on this - I am extremely disappointed by the SCALE development team. It was very stable when it first was released and has gone backwards ever since, introducing more and more deficiencies and instability - this is not the way a product life cycle should go if you want to have a reputable trusted product.

Did you connect to it after you set it to only one character?
Last I tried, it wouldn't connect properly. And thusly needed to be a two character password at minimum.

Tried it myself. And even though the VM needed to be shutdown completely before the change actually applied. It could be as short as a one character password.
