Remote Access & Subnets

I have my TrueNAS server at another location that has better internet. There is a TP-Link AX73 at the location, There is a VPN server function but it creates a subnet 10.8.x.x and all traffic is routed there, is there anyway to add the 10.8.x.x subnet to the TrueNAS machine? Or is there another way to remotely manage the server/access SMB etc? Currently I'm accessing by renting into a computer that is on the network but sadly that computer is not left on, so initial configuration I can gain access to setup.

**While writing this I realized I could most likely install an OpenVPN server/plugin on the machine and then it wouldn't be restricted to the TP-Link router issues, is this possible?

open vpn server and client is included in truenas core and scale, so yes it would be possible
