Hi all,
I like TruenNAS very much and using since a longer time the TrueNAS CORE.
We're doing some tests with TrueNAS SCALE already and also LINSTOR for Storage Orchestration.

Are you planning to add the LINSTOR satellite to TrueNAS SCALE?

Thanks for your answer,
Peter

As far as I know, Linstor doesn't provide HA across a cluster without the DRBD component as well. This is not open source with a free license.

Unless its Open Source and free, its not really possible to include in TrueNAS CORE or SCALE.

Some more info for those that don't know:
LINSTOR is basically distributed blockstorage (A bit like CEPH).

While it's technically possible to connect a LINSTORE satellite to ZFS, I don't think it's worth delaying development of actual SCALE features for. It has close to zero things in common with the Gluster File-Storage based clustering that iX is developing. It's a bit like asking "please also support CEPH".

Actually, Ceph has a bigger chance of ever going to be included (still not likely or anytime soon) as it's at the very least opensource. In contrast to the key backend of LINSTOR.

Simply put:
It would mean iX's consumers have to wait longer on iX product features, because iX would spend time on a commercial LINSTOR product....
