Hello,

Since I am a absolute Linux Newbie I tried to install Owncloud through the GUI. It worked and the jail seems also to work fine. The only "small" problem is that the Owncloud plugin won't start.
I guess it's maye because of the added storage and some permission problems maybe?
How can I find out why the service won't start?

Best regards
Andy

that shouldn't stop owncloud (which in this case is apache) from starting. what happens when you run 'service apache24 onestart' in the owncloud jail?

also, freenas isn't Linux so it doesn't matter if you're a noob in Linux, lol.

apache24 does not exist in /etc/rc.d or the local startup
directories (/usr/local/etc/rc.d)

root@owncloud_1:/ # service apache22 onestart

strange, the plugin is supposed to create a link to that init script. you could try doing it yourself but there may be other issues if the post-install script failed.

Code:
ln -s /usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/etc/rc.d/apache22 /usr/local/etc/rc.d

Believe it or not. Owncloud is up and running! Do I have to do this again in case I have to reboot or is my problem (probably) fixed? ;-)
Thank you so much

you shouldn't have to, the link should stay there. not sure why/how it disappeared.

in a week or so I plan on releasing an update to the owncloud plugin that will have a bunch of nifty stuff added. unfortunately you won't be able to update from the current one so up to you if you want to switch to that when it comes out.

even if it's offtopic but I want to take the chance and ask another question as you seem to know lots about this plugin ;-)
If I want to connect via https to my owncloud IP I have to use the port 443? I was not able to find the port in the jail settings. I tried to forward the external port 443 to 443 from my owncloud IP but without success. Is there anything else I have to do to get https working and to access owncloud from external IPs?

To change the port owncloud is hosted on you would need to edit the apache config in /usr/pbi/owncloud-amd64/etc/apache22
That's about as much as I know as I don't use apache normally.

There's nothing special you need to do to forward ports to owncloud. It should work just like any other port forward.
