Hello,

I have FreeNAS 9.10 and installed in jail OC9.
I would like to try Colabora Online app which I installed inside OC9 for my work but I don't have any ideas how to make it work.
As I understand Colabora Online need some server. When I try to open any .doc file or .xls I get following message:

Collabora Online: Cannot connect to the host "https://localhost:9980". Please ask your administrator to check the Collabora Online server setting. The exact error message was: cURL error 7: Failed to connect to localhost port 9980: Connection refused

So, what should I do ?

I'm pretty sure you need to run a Collabora Online Development Edition which I believe isonly distributed as a (Linux) docker image.

Hi, Joshua. Thank you for response.

So, it means I should install OC based on Linux... and not FreeNAS (FreeBSD). It's a pitty ((

no owncloud runs on either platform. I am only taking about Collabora Online Development Edition. You could run this on a separate server / virtual server and configure owncloud to use it.

Josh -- do you know anyway to reasonably do this?? I've installed Ubuntu Linux on a bhyve virtual machine within FreeNAS. I installed the docker imager however I'm a little stuck at how to configure nginx to use the server. I've tried a lot of different tutorials. I'm trying to use this in conjunction with Nextcloud 11 -- which I've seen reported is more problematic than Nextcloud 10.

I have not used Collabora before. I assume you just install nextcloud 11 as you would normally, then install the related app, then put in the details to connect to your Collabora instance.

I wish it was that simple -- because that's what I thought it would be at least. I'm having a lot of problems with the SSL certificate issue. I'm not an expert in any means on setting up SSL, however I did manage to get it going with certbot and nextcloud. I'll keep looking, it seems the setup is an aggravation for a lot of people. Thanks for your help

Well that has nothing to do with getting Collabora setup. It seems simple to me to setup nextcloud, but I guess I would consider myself an expert =P

@Joshua Parker Ruehlig -- I managed to figure this one out with some luck and a lot of experimenting. I'll post a solution soon since I've seen a lot of questions throughout the years on this topic. Collabora server is now distributed as a docker imager and run in a docker container. Unfortunately freebsd to my knowledge doesn't run docker containers (and I they do, I stand corrected), so I went ahead and installed Ubuntu within a bhyve hypervisor and then ended up installed docker within ubuntu. A little convoluted, however the problem came since the collabora server (which runs in a docker container within ubuntu with a bhyve virtualized host) is a different server than what runs nextcloud (which runs within a freebsd jail). Most of the examples on the internet had the two running on the same server.

Nice, I may wait a little longer before I try out the collaborative editing.

LibreOffice 5.3. which was recently released, had the online component open sourced. Hoping this gets ported to FreeBSD soon, so we wont need the Collabora stuff anymore.
