So, besides being rather inadequate for server applications, clearly the motherboard is defective, since nothing boots.

since nothing boots.
...except Windows 10. But if nothing else boots, including the explicitly-listed-as-supported Ubuntu 16.10, it sounds like either a defective board, or some very odd BIOS/UEFI setting.

Seems like an interesting little board though. But its very new.

Have you set it to use Legacy BIOS mode? Etc etc?

Hello,

I have the same problem with these configuration:

Asrock J4205-ITX
Kingston HyperX Impact Black Series - 16 GB Kit (HX316LS9IBK2/16)
Samsung SSD Evo 850 120GB

I tried two several USB-Sticks, one USB 2.0 16gb and one USB 3.0 64gb stick, both with the same problem.

Are there any solutions for this problem? Or does the thread opener solved the problem?

Thanks for your help :)

*UPDATE: After some research, I found one mistake in BIOS. I have to activate CSM Option, now it boots from stick.

I've the same problem with Ubuntu 16.10 but I don't wan't to enable CSM / legacy bios because maybe I would add dual boot with W10. The problem is reproducible with a usb x64 Ubuntu 16.10 image made by Rufus (GPT, Fat32)

I bought this MiniPC https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B00U2ALNV8/ with a ASROCK J4205-ITX Board.
I had the same problems with no installation screen and selected in the BIOS the CMS on UEFI. Now grub started, but it was unbelievable slow. So I took the SSD on a USB Adapter on another Computer (where I disabled the internal hdd) and installed Ubuntu 16.04 Desktop x64 on this Computer onto the SSD. After the installation finished (was asked for reboot), I replaced the SSD back to the MiniPC and after installation of the updates the System is now really fast. Only the cold boot is taking longer than expected, about 20seconds. On other systems its booting in about 3 to 5seconds.
