Overview

Trying to backup DVR to TrueNAS server using SFTP. Everything works fine except storing the data onto right folder. I suspect it has to be a permission issue but unable to spot.

DVR, creates a folder with it's local IP as the name and then creates a sub directory for each day where all files recorded on that day will be stored in those respective folders. (please refer to the image attached). This process is executed by DVR and works as expected when I use Filezilla Server.

Problem

When I use TrueNAS for SFTP service, DVR creates the folders as mentioned above but recorded files from DVR are stored in the root directory of FTP and not within the folder of recorded day.

Please let me know if any further clarifications are needed.

P.S- I am a newbie to this platform, any help is much appreciated. Thank you all in advance.

You should read the help text for Always Chroot. I don't think your user is a member of wheel.

Thank you for prompt response,

I have made some change since my last post

  • I have disabled FTP service since I will be using SFTP, only SSH in enabled.
  • Created new dataset
  • Assigned user as a member of wheel

However, issue still remains the same.

Will try that and let you. I have tried to access these directories using FTP client(Filezilla) with "codvr" account which is used on DVR for SFTP transfer and I can confirm that codvr account has all permissions to read, write, execute.
