Hi Group! I just joined the forum. I'm looking forward to learning more about FreeNAS and to sharing about FreeNAS.
I've been using FreeNAS on and off since about 2013 (version 8.3 I think). About 6 months ago I setup a 9.10 FreeNAS server using a Dell PowerEdge 840 server with 4x2TB drives and 8 GB of ECC memory. It works well. I recently setup a second server almost exactly like the first after running out of storage space on the first FreeNAS server.
I would next like to set up an additional FreeNAS server with a greater amount of storage capacity, drives, and memory. I would like to use it primarily as a file server and to store VM's that would run under VMware or Hyper-V on different host server hardware.
I have already benefited much from the excellent questions and answers on the forum. I hope to learn much much more over the coming months and years.
