Hello Everyone,
Im new to Truenas I have version 13.0
My system is as follows
I7 12700
Gigabyte Z690 UD DDR4 LGA1700 ATX Motherboard
ram 32gb
8 x 4tb WD red plus.
My Problem,
I have being running truenas for about 3 weeks now with no problems. I recently upgraded the cooling to a better hs then the stock one provided. After that I restarted it and It says "The web interface cannot be accessed, please check network configuration"
I have attempted resetting network settings but with no hope, I then did a reset configuration to defaults. Which allowed me back into the web interface but I had lost my pool settings as well. So I uploaded a configure file but when it resets. It still says the same error message.
Please any help would be much appreciated

With a Realtek NIC you are prone to issues.
Maybe you could try to import your pools over the reset config, but wait for someone competent (not me) and see what they say.

Hi Davvo,
thank you for the reply. I have attempted that but still my pools are not there but I know my data is still there because there almost 3tb of disk space being used.

Welcome to the forums.
Given that you could " reset configuration to defaults. Which allowed you back into the web interface", I would do that again, then open Network>Global Configuration and enter/correct the IP addresses you have for Gateway (likely your router address) and for name servers (use those provided by your ISP and that of your gateway, and/or 8.8.8.8 or 4.4.4.4 if you don't know what to enter - one or more of those should be effective).
Reboot and, hopefully, your GUI access issue(s) will be resolved.
If not come back here and describe what you see. If they are resolved then you should try importing your pool(s) if they are not showing - Pools>Add>Import existing pool>pools - are there any showing to be imported? If so, import.
If not showing , go to Shell, and run zpool status -v and post results here (best to copy/paste results from SSH access as copy/paste from the Shell, as most Shell stuff, just sucks).

Hi Redcoat,
I have followed the procedure you set out but after importing the pool I still don't have my original files or folders available. Zpool status gives me these results

Did you re-config your samba shares (or whatever protocol you were previously using)?

So you still cannot access any of your files?

EDIT: Is your server left running such that the daily automatic copy of the configuration will have taken place (typically between 3 and 4 AM EST for me, not sure wjhat the global default is)?. If so, we should recover the backup made the day before you made your upset system mods (or the most recent one made before that time). Though this can be done from the CLI, I strongly suggest that you set up root SSH access to your server and install a copy of WinSCP on your PC.

The config db file is named freenas-v1.db and is located in /data. The automagically stored copy is in the path /var/db/system in a directory that will be named configs-****random_characters****

Mine looks like this: configs-22ecd063490d4ed98c05cf93f09e5b6b, and here's part of what's in it:

In the last entry are all the daily auto backups since I loaded 13.0-U1.1

My idea is for you to find what you have for "the day" before your system upset and copy that file to your freenas-v1.db using WinSCP to do so.

Come back with any questions or comments.

That's good news!

If you have time to tell us what you had to do the get there, it could be useful information for others with problems in the future...

I managed to get access to my storage thru windows but was still unable to see my pool, so I copied all the data to a 4tb ssd and then reinstalled but changed to truenas scale but after 2 reset and copying my data over, the same issue popped up again. So Im thinking it might be a my network card which is not a intel card or it doesnt like 12th gen cpu. I did prior to this install run a 3700x on Gigabyte motherboard with a intel nic.

Thanks for the update, so I guess you're not out of the woods yet. Without a much clearer undersatnding of the situation I don't know what else to suggest.
Good luck!

[Warning: Far fetched] Could your new cooler be creating any sort of electrical noise that passes in the mobo? You never know. I would try with the old cooler for a time.
