I've been using a single disk freenas vm for years for a vmware lab, and wanted to try a bare metal version, so I built one. I have a
asrock z170 motherboard
32GB of ram
8 samsung evo disks, with 4 mirrored pairs
4 core cpu
Chelsio 10gb netwrok adapter
If use iscsi and I just make 1 target and put alll the luns on it, I get about 110mbps read, but if I make a separate target and just 1 lun, I get a full 1000mbps read. I seem to be getting 5 or 6GB or so networking either way I so I'm a bit confused on the difference.
