I am new to FreeNas; I have zpool two mirrors of four 3TB drives. Running i7 6700 with 32G ram. Everything seems to work okay, but I recently upgraded the track from 11.2 to 11.3. After the upgrade, I notice when I create a dataset, I do not have the option at the bottom under "Other options" Share type; the whole line is missing. This may be affecting how my Samba works because when I create a samba share, Windows is fine, but Linux (Mint) does not have to write privileges at have tried lots of different settings. I can right-click on the mount samba share and choose mount as root, and it works okay. My end goal is to create a fstab to mount the share automatically during boot for Plex files using samba so Windows computer also accesses the files.

Unlikely.

A couple of hints to help you along.
1. Assuming you're connecting to FN using local users and not AD, make sure the UID/GID of the Linux user matches a user on FN.
2. Include the user in the ACL for the share with the appropriate permissions.
