Hi all

I am new to FreeNas & first time poster.
I have been reading up on FeeNas & Plex server.
I am looking into custom building a nas server for media, Backups, File storage etc. (for home use)

One thing that is holding me back at the moment is I would like to have is a email server for sending and retrieving email from multiable email accounts. For now I would say about 5 email address.
Is there an app or plugin that works with FreeNas.

Thanks in advance
Regards

Set up a generic FreeBSD jail and then follow any of the various mail server recipes out on the net.

Sendmail or Postfix are the most popular ones, I'd guess.

For the ease of configuration, go with Postfix or Exim. Sendmail is harder to set up the right/correct way.

Configuring Sendmail largely comes down to selecting a proper m4 template for the configuration. I'd certainly agree that the whole m4 thing is probably a bit of a bear for newcomers who are looking for more of a "where's the config file I need to edit" type deal, but once you get past that, Sendmail's a mean competitor.

If you're willing to add another box, Zimbra's open-source edition works pretty well. It doesn't support FreeBSD (supposedly, you can build it manually... but that's probably beyond your skills - it's certainly beyond mine) but does Linux. I run it at home (combined with an Apache + z-push server for Activesync) for about 50 users.

No need to add another box for that--put it in a VirtualBox VM if you don't want to mess with manually building it for FreeBSD.
