What do you mean?Storage drivers?
No, I haven't installed truenas yet. I'm just past the installer window and it's asking me which drive I want to install the software on and the m.2 is not showing up as an optionDepending on what you mean by "drive selection for boot" could also be BIOS vs UEFI.
Guessing based on the unclear information you have successfully installed TrueNAS onto the M.2, upon reboot you are unable to find the M.2 to boot from in the motherboard boot options?
If so, then you likely need to match the install option you choose during TrueNAS install to your motherboard boot option setting, BIOS (legacy) or UEFI.
Just the m.2 header on the motherboard. The drive shows up in bios. How do I see what the driver is?What is the M.2 connected to? All storage needs a driver, if TrueNAS doesn't have that driver installed it wont see the storage.
The system is booting in uefi and still no m.2 optionAre you booting your system and the TrueNAS installer in UEFI mode (not BIOS, Legacy, or CSM?) Often that's necessary in order for an NVMe device to be detected and made bootable.
Check for a BIOS/firmware update from Dell. There's no reason it shouldn't be able to boot, but it might be something similar to how Lenovo desktops have a locked EFI boot code that will only speak to Windows. The system is booting in uefi and still no m.2 option
The launcher comes up and everything it just doesn't have the m.2 available as an option to download the software. All 3 other drives show up in that menu. Also how would I go about getting an update without an os on the machine?Check for a BIOS/firmware update from Dell. Your computer supports one of the following configurations: • One 3.5-inch hard drive • One 3.5-inch hard drive and one M.2 2230/2280 PCIe/NVMe solid-state drive/Intel Optane storage • Up to two 2.5-inch hard drives • Up to two 2.5-inch hard drive(s) and one M.2 2230/2280 PCIe/NVMe solid-state drive/Intel Optane storage • Up to one 3.5-inch hard drive and two 2.5-inch hard drive(s) and one PCIe/NVMe M.2 2280
Tried every combination of plugging them in including only filling the black spots. m.2 still not showing upI was REALLY bored so I looked further into this, looks like the m.2 slot is shared with one of the 3.5" SATA slots.
Page 13 shows 3.5" plugged into white and blue, page 14 shows MB
So either the white or blue SATA is shared. Likely just move the 3.5" drives to the black SATA ports and you will be good.
