Is there a command to see the server's lifetime up-time?

There is a command to see the current (since last boot) 'uptime'.

The system doesn't have a lifetime, because each part/component has its own lifetime (more like manufacture batch time).

Don't forget that, each component could have potentially been part of a different system in its former lifetime, and the person who assembled the system is the only one who knows, when...

If you have one hdd which has only been used in the system (and is still there) you could look at the smart value (with smartctl) for power on hours. It should be a good estimate for total power on of the server.

I have two actually. That was before I knew I needed at least four drives. Thanks for the suggestion. They are currently at 16,300 and 17,300 hours.

You can try to look under the 'boot' tab and search for the creation date of the 'Initial Install' grub menu item. If it is still there you know when FreeNas was installed on those boot disks.

Excellent idea! Thanks!

Bah. That only gives you since 9.3. Thanks though.
