Hi! When I transfer large files from my computer to my NAS it transfers @50MB/s. I was wondering if this was normal at full duplex gigabit.

NAS Specs:
CPU: AMD A4 3400
RAM: 4GB DDR4 1600 Kingston RAM
MOBO: MSI A55M-P33
STORAGE: 1 TOSHIBA DT01ACA050 500GB HDD
Ethernet Cables: Cat6 and Cat5e
I know it's weak but it's just for light use and mostly just excel files.

Nope but then again you are very light on the RAM. Look at the SWAP space, if it's not running at zero file size then you are swapping probably often your RAM to SWAP space and that will kill performance. Also if the LAN chip is RealTek, that can hurt performance.

It does reach 100mb/s when transfering very large files like multiple movies

Given the crippling limitations of only half the required RAM for operation and a Realtek RTL8111 ethernet, that's really nothing short of amazing.

It's not "weak". It isn't even really expected to work, certainly not reliably in the long term. Just because you think it's for "light use" doesn't mean that the minimum requirements are waived.
