IPv6 only TrueNAS operations

Hi,
I know some of you want to hit me because of that but I think it's time to discuss this.
Running TrueNAS in an IPv6 only environment isn't possible mainly because of these flaws:

• update-master.ixsystems.com
• update.ixsystems.com
• github.com (plugins)

Those won't resolve an IPv6 address. I mean github obviously is aware of this problem but they just don't care, see countless tweets. On the other hand making your webservers IPv6 capable wouldn't be much of a hassle, I guess. Gitlab.com for example already serves IPv6 for quite some time now, just so you know there are alternatives
pkg.freebsd.org and pkg.cdn.trueos.org for example already have an AAAA record.

If you have IPv6 only, your network is so restricted that a manual update probably is your only path any way..

IPv6 only is going to become more and more common. Probably take about a decade but eventually that's where it's going to wind up

I've been running dual stack for years now and I'm really sick of it. It's so much extra work: Dual DNS Records, Dual Firewall rules, configuring every single service to listen on dual stack.
My experience with IPv6 only is quite good, but there are some leftovers which I name in this thread.

I would love to go IPv6 only...But there are plenty of other really large companies that haven't deployed IPv6 at all....that increases the PITA factor.
