I am unable to connect with my FreeNAS with SMB or WebDAV using my (Firecore) Infuse video app. I have tried all combinations of setups I can think of and keep getting errors. I am looking for advice from somebody who has had success with Infuse, VLC, CineXPlayer. Google has not been my friend.

Thanks.

I use guest access and CIFS for my Home network on a fixed IP address 192.168.0.193. Infuse finds my freenas as freenas.local (fn1.png):
fn1.PNG

Clicking on "freenas" I see my CIFS shares with guest access. (I have other backup shares with password access.) (fn2.png):

Clicking on one of the shares causes an error (fn3.png):

I try specifying Workgroup and Username/password: guest/guest without a change(fn4.png):

I tried setting up WebDAV share with freenas and was unable to see my files either. I erased the share but can try to recreate if helpful.

Thanks...o_O

Well, that wins the award for most useless error message

Anything in /var/log/messages on the FreeNAS side?

Open SSH, navigate to /var/log/ and use your favorite editor to open the "messages" file. Say, "ee messages" to open Easy Editor, which will try to open the arguments you pass to it (messages).

Ok. I just tried to view folder "download" and "video." I then copied messages file a minute later. It is attached with "TXT" extension to comply with forum rules.

Note that your log says that you have a heat issue, you should check that.

Add an entry to the lmhosts file of the windows system for 192.168.0.16 so that it matches up with the FreeNAS hostname. That should fix the app issue.

What user are you using to access FreeNAS? I've used this on the aTV and had no problems connecting with the root user and password.

dl:
1. Heat: I swapped an old 2TB drive into array and it seems to be running hot. Not sure why.
2. I tried modifiying lmhosts file for another problem (Windows 10 Network Discovery failure of FreeNAS) and it didn't work:
https://forums.freenas.org/index.ph...ile-explorer-does-not-discover-freenas.38850/
NAS still invisible to W10. I may be making error. In any case, the video APP problem is from an IPhone/IPad accessing NAS, so I don't think the lmhosts workaround applies.

AW:
I am using IPhone and Ipad. All my CIFS shares are open for Guest access so login shouldn't matter. I'm not sure if I tried the root login though.

Update: I installed the "new" iOS version of Infuse. I was able to access FreeNAS when I entered my ROOT login/password as credentials. Strange that I have shares set up for GUEST access. At least I can kludge my way through now.
