Hi, I'm new to all this. I was looking for information and I did not find. Can TrueNas Core 13 be installed on a partition? I have a 120gb nvme m2 and I wanted to install in one partition and use the other partition as cache for 3 hdds 4TB.
Or should I install it on a pen drive?
I apologize for my English, use a translator.

Neither is a supported configuration.

USB install might be simpler.
Make sure you make regular configuration backups.
Use good quality USB devices.
Have multiple USB devices ready for when the USB device breaks.

I have tested boot device / SSD / NVME partitioning when installing scale, not core.
I think it would be similar. There is a guide somewhere for doing this with with scale.
I eventually deleted this setup and reverted to a standard install because there were various issue with the truenas interpretting this configuration and the webui was getting confused.

You might just be able to do the core install, and ensure you do not select "expand to fill the entire disk".
You might also need to enable or not enable swap.
You might need to to multiple installs to test if there is space left on the install disk.
If you do this, and the base installation does not use the entire disk, then you will have space to manually make partitions.

If you can't get the installer to leave the unused space, then you could do what the guide says, and hack the installer.
My memory of the details is not precise, so you will have to guess where I am incorrect.
The scale installer was in /usr/*bin or /usr/local/*bin maybe called *install*?
The place to hack the scale installer was around line 410 where it uses sgdisk.
I have no idea about the core installer, and it might use something freebsd specific instead of sgdisk.

In case you didn't know scale is based on debian linux and core is based on freebsd.
It is probably a bad idea to even try unless you are familiar with unix/linux administration and freebsd.
I am not familiar with freebsd and am not a good person to ask about freebsd specific things.

Thank you very much for answering.
I'm going to get a couple of pen drives to install it and have a reserve.
You want to look for MLC drives if possibile.

Good idea. I found some Sonizoon / InnoStor USB disks on aliexpress which claimed to be MLC. Not sure I can tell between MLC & TLC. Certainly they are much faster than some Samsung Ultra Fit drives I have. 90MB/s write IIRC while I was imaging a partition onto the device.

https://www.aliexpress.com/store/4641036 they also have PSSD which I think means portable SSD drives, which I have a couple but haven't used much yet, but these seem much closer to a SSD than the USB drive, so some 32GB of these would possible work for you.

If you find good MLC, SLC would be even better, USB drives please let me know, I am always looking for other options.
