Increasing throughput without LACP?

Is there any option to use multiple network interfaces to increase throughput without using hardware dependant LACP?
I am new to TrueNAS and come from Xpenology where I had the option to bond interfaces for better throughput, which didn't require a compatible switch and I wonder if I can do something similar under TrueNAS?
Basically my traffic from the NAS goes to two separate places on my LAN, my main machine pulling and pushing data and my ESXi host with a bunch of VMs using data.
If it's possible I would appreciate some guidance and advice on what to do and how.

In the future when funds allow it I'm thinking of grabbing 2 10GB cards and split the output so that the ESXi host has its own dedicated connection to the NAS (currently the NAS and server are in different rooms though, so would have to move it first).

LACP requires switch support, but doesn't always provide improved performance for ESXi. If your switch has VLAN support, then you should try iSCSI MPIO. See this thread for additional info.

Slightly different setup, two machines and the desire to have one full GBit interface each, not one machine and the desire to use two bonded interfaces. MPIO is not the answer here.

VLANs are. Configure a VM storage VLAN, and have the VM machine communicate with TrueNAS on that. Assumes a configurable switch that supports VLANs.
