Hi

I have a HP ThinClient T630 - 8GB RAM -

The unit has 2 usb 3.0 ports on the front and one internal (also have 4 usb ports)

I have successfully installed TRUECORE NAS but when i connect the drives directly or via a hub i get errors and they dont connect

If i use USB it works fine and i can create pool and share etc.

Any help would be really appreciated!!!

This simply isn't expected to work. USB is moderately flaky at its best, and you really need to attach your disks directly to the host. You aren't likely to have sufficient cooling on a T630 to be able to stick an HBA in there, so you are probably outta luck.

Thanks for the reply

Okay, I have been using it on my main computer in the exact same way with no issues for some time now, and have tested it on another computer - it seems to the Truenas core not liking the usb3 ports on the thinclient

Really? Your main computer is a FreeBSD host running ZFS?

Or did you mean that your Windows PC works that way? Because a lot of these USB chipsets have device drivers authored for them by the manufacturer of the chipset, so they work ~99.99% correctly, and a desktop PC pushes nowhere near as much I/O at a hard drive as ZFS does. That's as far from "in the exact same way" as you can get, really ...

Yes sorry should.have been clearer

Yes my home serves have always been with truenas (or free Nas) I use the exact same set up

I have a gigabyte ax370 gaming 5 motherboard With a Usb3 hub with 4 4TB drives in raid 5, so way expecting to move that I've to a thin client or another small PC. I use it as a media server so the hit from being over usb for file speeds is okay.

I may try another type of small PC to see if I get the same issue I guess
