How to switch from 1GbE NIC to 10GbE NIC?

I'm about to upgrade my network from 1000BASE-T to 10Gb SR optical interfaces. I bought an Aruba S2500-24P and two Chelsio NICs on eBay, and pulled OM4 fiber from my office PC to the "server room." After some minor configuration on the new switch I moved all my 100/1000BASE-T connections to the "new" switch. I connected my PC next, it's working fine.

So - now I want to cut over my FreeNAS server to the 10Gb "network." Is it as simple as reconfiguring the network hardware through the console? It seems that noting is ever this easy with FreeBSD or FreeNAS... I'm most concerned that my Plex 7 Deluge Jails/Plugins keep working. Is there anything I need to change in their configuration? Thanks!

Yes. Take the IP config out of the 1Gb NIC and put it in the 10Gb NIC and reboot. Easy.

That is a whole other question. You will need to do some work to get those working, still it is pretty easy and can be done from the GUI after the reboot.

Yes, but you need to be on the new NIC before you can make those changes.

Thanks, Chris. The change over was a breeze, but some dunderhead (me) went to delete the Deluge plugin they had added and never set up, but deleted Plex by mistake. So, I have to reinstall Plex from scratch, anyway. The Chelsio board works great, and I'm starting to figure out how to get this Aruba S2500 set up correctly. Now if I can keep the Chelsio driver from crashing my PC every 5 minutes I'll be all set.

I went with a Mellanox card on the Windows side of the link:

No problem with that as far as I can tell. I tried both the Mellanox and the Chelsio card on the FreeNAS side with no trouble.
That's what I decided to do. I found an ebay seller in Nashua, NH that's selling some Mellanox cards, I'm waiting to hear if I can go pick it up in the morning -- I actually have an errand to do about 1/4 mile from their location.
