Guide me How to configure Home Media Server

Hi all, i want to turn an Old Laptop into Home server with FreeNas use for Media Share SMB ,Windows BackUp, Torrents Downloads and bitsync

I have Old Dell 04373Y Laptop Details are:

1.Intel Core i5 560M Mobile Processor
2.DDR3 2GB Ram
3.500 Gb HardDisk
4.Seagate Portable Hard Disk 1TB

Your proposed build doesn't even come close to meeting the minimum specs for FreeNAS.

We don't exactly maintain a catalog of competing software and its capabilities and requirements, but you might look at The Product Formerly Known as FreeNAS, i.e., NAS4Free. I understand its requirements are a bit lighter, at least if you don't use ZFS. But even with that, turning an old (very old) laptop into a NAS just isn't a good idea if you actually care about your data.

In your case i would install openmediavault or some Windows version and share your files.

Freenas on that hardware is not recommended.
