I have a mini XL connected with a 1GB ethernet for management. The GUI constantly refreshes and disconnect me with the following message:

Connecting to TrueNAS ... Make sure the TrueNAS system is powered on and connected to the network.

I have validated there is network connectivity to the Truenas box and have a running ping to the box. The ping at no point drops, but the GUI does disconnect. I have however set the binding IP to the 1GB IP. The Management IP is a static IP assigned to it. I have enabled ssh on it and ssh does drop the connection as well, but my ping's to the management IP continue to work, I dont get any request time out's

Any idea how to stop this from happening?

I dont think it is a timeout because a timeout would actually kick me out of the system and have me log back in. This gives me the error message, then refreshes and logs me back in automatically to the same spot I was previously minus any unsaved changes. I understand that this there should be a timeout and I am OK with it, but this is happening every minute or so.

I am also having this issue. I'll be in the middle of configuring settings or something and all of a sudden it pops up "Connecting to TrueNAS" and within seconds reloads my page forcing me to start over. I have had to be quick to make changes. I also noticed that SSH also gets disconnected in a similar way. Seems like every 2 minutes or so it disconnects and I have to log back in to SSH. Any idea how to fix this?

Have you checked the obvious things?
  • Cables & connectors are tight and undamaged?
  • System is statically addressed (not DHCP)?
  • Subnet default gateway is operational?
  • Client has a valid MAC address in its ARP table for the TrueNAS server?

I have checked those, yes. I can confirm that I have clean physical connections. The TrueNAS Scale server has a static IP with valid MAC address in ARP. I am using OPNSense for firewall and routing. It is the first time having trouble with this type of problem. SCALE acted this way on a different hardware configuration as well which leads me to believe it is due to a bug. I have also tried different web browsers and both Safari and Chrome act the same.

Does it happen when you're connected back-to-back with the TrueNAS server? I'm inclined to suspect OPNSense timing out sessions.

It seems my Zerotier connection was causing the glitches. I was using ZeroTier One on my Macbook to connect to remote location where my other server is at. Since turning it off, it seems like the problem is resolved. Thank you for your help, much appreciated!
