getting mixing disks of different sizes is not recommended but disks are the same size and connected via same adapter

trying to build a vdev/pool of 5 4TB hard drives but one drive (sdf) is for some reason detected as a different size and as a result I cannot proceed. Not sure what to do. Motherboard is Supermicro X12SAE and there is also LSI 9300-16i flashed to IT mode version 16.00.12.00. SDF was initially connected via motherboard SATA headers and I thought that may be the issue after searching and reading some older threads; connecting via the HBA did not change anything though. Any ideas?

disks from different manufacturers may look the same size, but may differ by a bit - which is probably what you are seeing here. As long as they go into a vdev then don't worry about it - the vdev will be based on the smallest of the drives - it won't make much difference

Excellent, thanks. How do I approach doing this in truenas scale then? New to the OS and as far as I can tell there is no way to force it to proceed despite the warning.

You should be able to force them, with a tick box. But I am not sre at this point as I don't have that scenario to test

I didn't see one when I was creating but I wasn't looking that hard. I'll have to investigate more thoroughly when I get home. Thanks for the help!!

as far as I can see there is no option to force creation, is this not an option in scale or do I have to use CLI?

edit: never mind; workaround was to select the smallest drive in the GUI and check "treat disk size as minimum". obvious in retrospect, whoops!
