Hello all!
I'm looking for some advice on doing a FreeNAS build. I'll be using it for basic home server tasks.
CPU:FX-6300(Own)
RAM:2x4GB Kingston HyperX ram(Plan on buying another 2x4Gb for 16GB-$25)
MOBO:any mATX board that supports 6 drives. -$50~
DRIVES:3xSeagate Barracuda 2 TB 3.5" 7200RPM 1x1TB Tobishia Drive shucked from an Old laptop
CASE:Any of them that supports 6drives for future exp-$50
PSU:EVGA 500watt.-$50
Current pricing from used ram and board and new PSU is about 175-200.
I know for around the same price you can get a r710 server rack. While that's really what I'd love to do, I also need to keep it semi-cheap right now. Size and noise is also a problem currently(Won't be once I buy a house in the spring of 2020)
So for $200 would this be the best route currently?
TIA
