You can actually use a single mFI-THS sensor to monitor humidity and temperature simultaneously. Simply cut off the end of a CAT5 cable and separate out wires 1 and 2 (orange-stripe and orange). Then attach 2 RJ-45 8p8C plugs to the wires.

Plug 1: Wires 3-8 in conventional T568B arrangment
Plug 2: Orange-stripe on cable to pin 6 in 8p8c plug 2. Orange on cable to pin 3 in 8p8c plug 2

End result looks something like this (note this is a picture of the mPort that the mFI-THS is connected to:

The top plug is for the temperature sensor and power. The bottom plug is for the humidity sensor. Configure the mFI controller software accordingly. Now you're monitoring temperature and humidity in your server room (or wherever you've set the sensor).

Wait, so they sell a box with two sensors, only one of which can officially be used at once? Am I understanding that correctly?

The reason why it can't output both is that the mport is reads input from pair 3 of the 8p8c connector (labelled as a+ and a-). See diagram below:

Classic example of using network cables for things other than TCP/IP.

Anyway, I use it because the software is easy to work with and a lot cheaper than the alternatives I looked at.
