Hi, I have had FreeNas working fine on a G4 but can't get it working on a G5 due to not being able to plug the disks directly in to the motherboard as there are no SCSI connectors, looks like I have to keep the P400 raid but FreeNas won't see the disks.

I have ran the ACU to erase the raid completly, and tried configuring as a RAID 5 but FreeNAS will never see the disks. Can't see anything in bios for raid passthrough.

Anyone managed a way past this?

Thanks.

ran acu and configured all drives individually as raid 0, FreeNAS now seeing them. Built RaidZ1 and connect to share

Apologies for the thread necromancy, this thread showed up prominently when searching for the solution myself.

HP DL380 G4 servers have the capacity to bypass the addon raid controller and plug the riser for the hard drives directly onto the mainboard to present as JBOD.
HPDL380 G5 servers don't have this capacity and came with HP P410 SmartArray raid controllers.
P410's are unable to present JBOD, so your options there are either RAID-0 each disk using ACU and use FreeNas to ZFS them, or alternatively replace the raid controller.

The dell M1015 reflashed firmware is suppose to be the best option for this I believe, I'm new to the forum and freenas and was doing research and come across this post and just invested in the dell M1015 raid controller for my hp proliant dl380 g5 so I can use zfs on my file server. I believe this is the best choice, is that right cyberjock ?

I have no idea. I don't own that server so I can provide no input on what is wrong or how to fix it.
