I like the forum because of the high signal-to-noise ratio here; you can usually count on getting correct information.

Or at least a great debate about the various facets of correctness, ahhahahha.

I really appreciate the high level of civility compared to most forums (fora?), which too often devolve into Hobbesian Lord Of The Flies anarchy. I'm impressed by the numerous multilingual members, many of whom write excellent colloquial English. I'm thankful to the many experts who freely share their hard-won knowledge with the rest of us. I try to help out with basic questions so that these folks can concentrate on the Rocket Science stuff.

I know I've said it before, probably even in this thread, but everyone "paying it forward" a bit makes it a LOT more pleasant for everyone. Many hands make light work.

I have to believe that this makes the forums a more enjoyable place for all of us, a great place to hang around with the other cool NAS geeks. ;-)

Amen to that !

It's pretty cool that Jordan Hubbard, one of the founders of FreeBSD, is the CTO at iXsystems. That lends some gravitas to the project.
Or, completely robs it of gravitas. Depends who you ask.

Confession, often I find myself jumping onto these forums at weird hours. I know I could be sleeping, watching some mindless show or something else; but I find it quite enjoyable and entertaining to either just read posts or even provide comments/assistance. Zen for the geeks... :)
