Hi all

I’m going to try my first build after years on Synology NAS

for my build I think to go for a 5/6 sata drive , and a couple Of nvme (separate volume)
minimum 32 gb of ram

I plan to use docker and probably a Vm
I plan also to install Plex and do some transcoding (max 2 simultaneously)

connection via 10Gbe

any advice on some good mini itx-micro atx motherboard / cpu combo?

all will have to fit a short 3u rack case

thanks for any advice I’m a bit lost at the moment

I am totally green about NAS, so I can't help you, but I do have a question.
What will you use your nvme drives for?

Just as a fast network disk for temporary work.

I will back up it daily.
I’m not a big fan of cashing… but I have to experiment a bit, maybe with Zfs it’s better? :)
