Google search: site:freenas.org enter full path name of shell

I saw some threads that listed a couple of steps to resolve the problem. btw, a properly configured ups should prevent this problem.

The kwh is not as much as you think. But if you don't spend the money to build the server properly, you can certainly expect to spend alot more time trying to fix server issues like the one you are having and the resulting data loss.

It's pretty well known that not using an UPS on a server can cause file system corruption(which is almost certainly what you have now) on any file systems that were "in use" when the system suddenly loses power. Partial writes can leave you with a USB stick, zpool, or UFS file system that is unmountable and not easily recoverable(if at all). So tread carefully and you should seriously reconsider your choice to not use an UPS. If you don't have religious backups, well, I wouldn't trust your server with any of my data.

OK point taken.

At the moment I am just experimenting, to see how it all works, I have managed to reinstall, and have it up and running, but I am still considering just putting xp sp3 in place, then just save/back up files to that, and turn it off and on as and when needed.
