Is there a fix to this?
Hardware:
Server: DL380p gen 8 hp server
(10x) 1TB SanDisk drives

I use a dl380p gen8 hp server with 10 1tb SSDs. I do not use a external USB disk enclosureThat's why you don't use an external USB disk enclosure. Yes, that's a guess since you didn't share your hardware details, but I think it's a safe bet.
Good. So what's the rest of the hardware? The most important is probably the disk controller, but CPU, RAM, and other devices would be relevant as well.I do not use a external USB disk enclosure
It has two "Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660 0 @ 2.20GHz" CPUs and 128gb of ram. It uses the Smart Array p420i Raid Controller To control the disks. I have it setup so each drive is in its own raid0 array because I was having problems with truenas detecting the drives.Good. So what's the rest of the hardware? You've already been told why this is a bad idea a couple of months back, so I won't repeat that--but that's your problem. It uses the Smart Array p420i Raid Controller
Ok ill try to figure out another way to label the drivesYou've already been told why this is a bad idea a couple of months back, so I won't repeat that--but that's your problem.
That is the wrong answer. Replace the controller.Ok ill try to figure out another way to label the drives
When I tried to remove it. it just spit out errors and wouldn't let me go to truenas. So I Just put it back in.Did you get rid of the disk controiller discussed in your previous message? https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/drives-show-up-as-a-hp-raid-5-in-disk-manager.101162/
With what did you replace it?
With what? That is the wrong answer. Replace the controller.
I Have looked at the doc but I don't seem to see what I can replace the raid controller with? With what you were told to use in your thread two months ago, which @Redcoat linked in case you've forgotten it.
Copied from the linked resource: "Cards such as the LSI 9240-8i, IBM ServeRAID M1015, Dell PERC H200 and H310, and others are readily available on the used market and can be converted to LSI 9211-8i equivalents."I Have looked at the doc but I don't seem to see what I can replace the raid controller with?
This seems to say it has a sas connector on it but the drives I have are sata will that be a problem?Copied from the linked resource: "Cards such as the LSI 9240-8i, IBM ServeRAID M1015, Dell PERC H200 and H310, and others are readily available on the used market and can be converted to LSI 9211-8i equivalents."
Like this, for instance, from a well-known and well-regarded supplier here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/162834659601?hash=item25e9b3b911:g:UxcAAOSwWrxcPvQv
The HBA will run SATA drives, 4 per connector with forward breakout cables. This seems to say it has a sas connector on it but the drives I have are sata will that be a problem?
Ok Thanks I will do this now!The HBA will run SATA drives, 4 per connector with forward breakout cables.
See post #4 in this thread by someone who performed the same transplant https://www.truenas.com/community/threads/hp-dl380p-gen8-smart-array-controller-p420i-how-to-zfs.92879/
Great.Ok Thanks I will do this now!
