Some details, please, on your hardware, per the Forum Rules.

That's why you don't use an external USB disk enclosure. Yes, that's a guess since you didn't share your hardware details, but I think it's a safe bet.

I use a dl380p gen8 hp server with 10 1tb SSDs. I do not use a external USB disk enclosure

Good. So what's the rest of the hardware? The most important is probably the disk controller, but CPU, RAM, and other devices would be relevant as well.

It has two "Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660 0 @ 2.20GHz" CPUs and 128gb of ram. It uses the Smart Array p420i Raid Controller To control the disks. I have it setup so each drive is in its own raid0 array because I was having problems with truenas detecting the drives.

You've already been told why this is a bad idea a couple of months back, so I won't repeat that--but that's your problem.

I Have looked at the doc but I don't seem to see what I can replace the raid controller with?
Copied from the linked resource: "Cards such as the LSI 9240-8i, IBM ServeRAID M1015, Dell PERC H200 and H310, and others are readily available on the used market and can be converted to LSI 9211-8i equivalents."

Like this, for instance, from a well-known and well-regarded supplier here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/162834659601?hash=item25e9b3b911:g:UxcAAOSwWrxcPvQv

This seems to say it has a sas connector on it but the drives I have are sata will that be a problem?

The drives do plug into a backplane and connect to these bigger cables and plug into the motherboard. are those sas cables?

Ok Thanks I will do this now!
Great.
There are "quite a few" threads here talking at some length about aspects the issue you are working. I recommend you use the search function to look for "hp dl380p gen8" so you can take advantage of others experiences. In particular poster @tangles is here regularly and perhaps can give you some detailed comment on the cables.
Good luck!
