Disk Health Warning

I have a disk health warning due to a number of SMART test failures.
1677267086167.png

Looking at the records all the failures seem to be aborted tests due to host reset - ie I rebooted / powered off during a smart test. These are not actual failures, just aborted.

zpool clear doesn't clear the warning and there appears to be no way of resetting / ignoring / clearing this metric.

Anyone else got an idea as I am stumped

Sorry to hijack the thread, I have similar issues but it's taken two drives offline (risky as RAIDZ2 means one issue and i'm lost) .... reboot brings them back online and fine. Is this related to the interrupted scans, OR is it a definite issue with the hardware?

The issue under discussion here shouldn't be taking drives offline - that something else

I'm having the same issue. The storage health metric show orange because the very first SMART tests failed, presumably during initial setup and install when I was rebooting. Every subsequent SMART test has passed. There is no way to delete the first erroneous failures, nor is there any way to reset the metric.

I was seeing this problem as well when I was running Scale, so I switched back to Core. That might not be possible for many people.

FYI, the disk health indicator reset back to normal health after updating to the latest Scale version. I haven't seen the health indicator go bad since the update.

I have the Same issue here. I'm running the latest Ver of TrueNAS-SCALE-23.10.0.1
It appeared the other day when i got a Fan Failure alert and the Temp of the Drives got to 60deg.

Smarts do not show up any issues / Errors.

Anyone know how to clear this error.

Power OFF, not reboot. The wait a few seconds and power back on. I think this is the min/max temp during a power on cycle. You can also change the alarm setpoint if this does not fix it.

Thanks for this quick reply.
Powering off for 10 min did not fix the issue as the Warning is still there.

How do i set the Alarm setpoints to be higher please. if it is possible.

60 degrees is way too hot for an HDD IMO

Post the entire output of smartctl -x /dev/adaX where adaX is the drive ID. We will look at the data and tell you more and what to do.

Here is the Smart's from one of the Drives.

The Temp on the other 2 are the same. (within reason.)

The only thing I can think of is this:
Power Cycle Min/Max Temperature: 46/55 Celsius
Lifetime Min/Max Temperature: 18/60 Celsius
Under/Over Temperature Limit Count: 0/18

Min/Max Temperature Limit: 5/60 Celsius
0x05 0x020 1 60 --- Highest Temperature

Which shows you have hit the magic "warranty is now expired" temperature of 60C and you did it 18 times. Not good.
I'm not sure what kind of case you have your drives in but as @NugentS stated, that is too hot. If you value your NAS then I would suggest you place your NAS in a better case. If you have your NAS in a confined space, relocate it so it can breath. Heat kills.

If all of this is due to one fan failure?, you should have turned it off and waited for a replacement fan.

Not trying to be mean, just letting you know that you have a serious problem and should find a way to deal with it.

Best of luck to you.
