create zpool from Partitions and differ Disk sizes

Hey Guys.

I run FreeNAS 11.0 on a DL360_G6 with a SAS Controller and some SATA Disks in a VLS9000 Chassis.

I have mix 1TB and 2TB Disks. On the GUI i cant create a pool with all Disks, i cant Mix booth sizes. I know that i can use only the size of the smallest Disk. I also want use the da1p1.eli instead of da1. I want use geli for Encrypting each da1p1. Its possible to run this way?

Of course you can. Use the Manual Setup button.

You probably don't really want to do that, but of course you can create an encrypted pool.

Hi, thanks for response but it works only on Disks with the same size. If i could use Disks with different size it will not work.

Hi, the manual way works only if the disks are not labeled or otherwise writen with gpart. a destroyed disk works well.

Correct. Don't partition your disks. FreeNAS will do it for you.

Edit: And you don't need to partition them in order to have encryption either; just check the box for encryption: http://doc.freenas.org/11/storage.html#encryption
